A new year, with some new tips for achieving your goals!
New year, new changes, new awareness, new learning, and new adventure.
For every action or change that we make, small or big, creates a reaction. New Year’s Resolutions are an easy way to make that change. However, creating a resolution and sticking to it year-round can be difficult.
Here are some tips to help keep those resolutions going throughout the year:
1. Write it down.
Create a resolution board or poster with your goals. Make it a fun activity to do New Year’s Day.
2. Think big.
Instead of refusing to take a straw at a restaurant or recycling, use a reusable straw or container and pass on the single use plastic options.
3. Make your goals controllable on your own.
New Year’s Resolutions should be about goals or achievements for yourself. You cannot control the uncontrollable or depend on someone else to complete your goal.
4. Set a daily reminder.
Use your phone or an app to remind yourself and keep you on track with achieving your goal whether that be daily, weekly, or monthly.
5. Give yourself time.
Change does not happen overnight. There will be trial and error with every change that you make, just remind yourself to be patient.
Changes for a better environment, start with the individual. And 2019 is the year for that change.
Here are some environmentally friendly New Year’s Resolutions to use for inspiration:
Eat less meat and dairy… If you don’t want to cut out meat completely, save it for special occasions. You can also try alternatives for dairy products!
Swap out and invest in some environmentally friendly cleaning products.
Join an outdoor fitness class.
Walk outside barefoot every once in a while.
Drive less. Enjoy your surroundings by walking somewhere once a week or even once a day.
Happy New Year!
